Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioner for works to ensure the continuation and speedy completion of the ongoing road construction work at Igwe Onyekonwu road and Benbella Umuchima Amorka Uli road in Ihiala local government area so as to open up the areas for enhanced business activities and revenue generation.
The Chief Whip Of The House, Hon. Ngobili Jude while making his presentation stated that the state government is poised to make Anambra State one of the most habitable state in Nigeria via the construction of good road networks in the state of which there is no bias as all can testify.
According to Hon. Ngobili, who is the member representing Ihiala Constituency, “Igwe Onyekonwu road and Benbella Umuchima Amorka Uli road are all major roads that are of economic importance to Ihiala and Anambra on general.
“These roads had been previously awarded in the past starting from Chinwoke Mbadinuju administration through Chris Ngige, Peter Obi and Willie Obiano’s administration without completion.
“The non completion of these roads which happens to serve as a link to the to the commercial focal point of Ihiala in particular and Anambra in general has helped to expose the roads and other area to brutal erosion and ditches thus, causing more hazards to the people and resulting to utilization of more money by the state in curtailing the menace of erosion and ditches.

“If the Government could continue and specify complete the ongoing construction works on these roads namely the Igwe Onyekonwu road and Benbella Umuchima Amorka Uli road, it will go a long way to promote the commercial activities and support farmers to be more productive since it will relieve the means of transportation of farm products and thus generate more IGR for the state.
In their separate submission, the Majority Leader, Hon. Ofoedeme Ikenna, Minority Whip, Hon. Paul Obi, Member Representing Ihiala Two, Hon. Golden Iloh, Member Representing Anaocha One, Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi, Member Representing Ogbaru, Hon. Noble Igwe and Member Representing Anaocha One Constituency, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu spoke in favour of the motion.
They affirmed that a lot of economic activities have been going at the location implying the importance of road. They also noted that students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Uli campus also uses the road amongst others and called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to promptly intervene.
