Senator Athan Achonu, the previous senator who represented Imo North has emerged winner of the Imo State Labour Party Governorship number one election.
Achonu scored 134 votes to defeat fifteen different applicants to emerge the winner.
Declaring the end result on Saturday, the Chairman of the Imo State Labour Party Governorship Primary Election Panel and Abia Governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti stated Senator Achonu scored 134 votes, observed through Major General Lincoln Jack Ogunewe (retd) who scored one hundred twenty five votes.
According to the Panel Chairman, “I desire to announce that the election changed into transparent, free, and fair.
“I hereby go back Athan Achonu because the LP candidate.”

Addressing his supporters rapidly after the announcement, Achonu thanked the party’s stakeholders for his victory.
