One body has been found in the wreckage of the seven-story building that collapsed on First Avenue in Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
According to the Lagos State Information and Strategy Commissioner, Gbenga Omotosho, on Friday, the adult male’s remains, whose specifics were not yet known, were discovered during the search and recovery operations of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
“The site is still being excavated while using the architectural plans. For a laborious search and rescue effort, the site has been divided into quadrants. The search effort has been finished, and quadrants two and three have been brought to a complete standstill. Quadrant for is still being conducted, he said in a statement.
He claims that on Wednesday, 25 people were saved from the building site.
“When a roll call was done by the site supervisors, everyone was accounted for. Nobody could ascertain whether the victim whose body was found this morning was on the site – as of the time the roll call was taken,” he said.
