The Anambra State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has elected it new 19 out of 21 Local Government Areas Coordinators and their executive members in the State.
The newly elected officials are expected to pilot affairs of the NYCN in their various council areas for the next four years.
The election, which was held over the weekend, at the ASUBEB complex, Awka, saw all the newly elected officials, elected unopposed in a peaceful atmosphere.
It was gathered that the Congress was held peaceful with the presence of security personnel from the Department of Security Service (DSS), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the media.
Speaking just after the election, the State Chairman of NYCN, Anambra Chapter, Comrade Obi Emeka Chukwudi, while thanking the newly elected officials and other participants for ensuring a peaceful exercise devoid of rancour, charged the Coordinators to be good ambassadors in their various communities and council areas respectively.
He said the election of the two remaining Council Areas (Oyi and Idemili South), will be conducted in few weeks time.
Comrade Chukwudi, extolled the state governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, for his giant strides in youth development especially, the ongoing “One Youth, Two Skills aquisition empowerment programme and urged the governor to continue on the youth-friendly policies of his administration while also building more on its achievements.
According to him, Prof. Soludo-led administration has demonstrated unique connection that offered hope to the youthful population in Anambra State with its friendly policy and inclusiveness.
“We are confident that the present administration will build more on that achievements to guarantee a more secure and productive environment suitable for the youths to involved more in the leadership of Anambra State and be well productive and profitable for those outside government,” the Chairman added.

In their separate interviews with Journalists shortly after the Congress, the Coordinator of Aguata Council Area, Comrade Ezekafor Mmaduabuchi David, Anambra West Coordinator, Comrade Okeke Iloegbunam Friday, Orumba South Coordinator, Comrade Uchenna Ejere, Onitsha North Coordinator, Michael Uzor and their Anyamelum counterpart, Comrade Mgbechi Emmanuel assured that they will utilised the opportunity given to them to ensure that the youth are involved more in Government policies and programmes.
“We are going to deliver on our campaign promises of uniting the youths, engaging them more on youths-oriented programmes to help curbed drug abuses, cultism and other related criminal activities in the State.
“We most sincerely thank the youths across the 19 LGAs for handing us their mandate purely on trust. We will not fail you,” the Coordinators concluded.”
They went further to appeal to the governor to provide more adequate opportunities for youths across the state to unleash their potential towards the development and advancement of Anambra.
Other NYCN Local Government outstanding members who got elected in their various council area includes, Aguata Deputy Coordinator, Camrade. Solomon Michael Sochima, Secretary, Mmaduekwe Chibuike, Financial Secretary, Chukwudim Martins and Treasurer, Ezemmaduekwe Kelechi Emmanuel amongst others.
