The Rotary Club Of Awka District 9142, GRA Chapter has betowed an award of excellent service to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Chairman of Academy Staff Union Of Universities, Engr. Stephen Ufuaroh, has received “Excellence in Service” award from the Rotary Club of GRA, Awka.
The Unizik ASUU Boss Engr. Stephen Ufuaroh received the award on behalf of the Union during the installation ceremony of the 22nd president of the club, Ugo Benitez Ibeanu At Awka, Awka South LGA.
The event which featured induction ceremony, awards presentation, inauguration of new board of directors for the year 2023-2024 and launching of service projects and special dance sessions had in attendance men and women of notable resort.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, the Unizik ASUU Boss, Engr. Stephen Ufuaroh commended the efforts of the Club for touching lives through humanitarian services, noting that the society can only strive better in peace when such services are engaged to help the less privilege and unemployed.
“As the Chairman of ASUU in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, we have been giving our scholarship to indigenous students to avoid school dropout, hence, limiting vices in the society, he said.
While appreciating the club for the special award and recognition, Engr. Ufuaroh went further to encourage the club and other associates to continue to preach and promote unity, peace, equality and care for the needy, and assured continuous support for Rotary to further reach out to the helpless.
The President of Rotary club of Awka GRA Rotarian, Benitez Ibeanu appreciated his family, friends and associates for their presence and enduring support and thank God for the opportunity to serve.
According to him, the essence of the ceremony is to raise funds for some projects that will be executed by the club towards improving the living standards of the people.
In his remarks, the Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 9142 in charge of Zone Thirty-eight, Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor who is supervising the Rotary club of Awka GRA and others, stated that Rotary is properly rooted in truth, justice and equity and charged Nigerians to emulate the Rotary style of leadership in order to enthrone a decent and God-fearing society.
Some of the awardees, the State Chairman Of Nigeria Small And Medium Business Enterprise, Mr. Chinecherem Oguegbe, and his counterpart, the MD/CEO KIC Industry, Engr. Chris Okonkwo expressed their gratitude for the special recognition and promised to continue to engage on more people oriented self development programs and service to create more employment for youths and women to build a better society.
In a vote of thanks, a one time president Rotary and also former managing director of ABS, Sir. Amobi Adirika on behalf of the club president appreciated the guest and other associates for their time and prayed, asking God for special provision for their needs while wishing them journey mercy to their various destination.
Other notable personalities at the event includes, the Commissioner For Transport, Barr Patricia Igwebuike amongst others, the head of service of Anambra State, Mrs. Theodore igweagbe and the Anambra state chairman of Nigerian Union Of Journalist, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu amongst others.
Earlier in his address, the immediate past president of the club, Arc. Danielson Ndubuisi Ositadimma noted that the installation of the new president for the year 2023-2024 will help to move the club forward in her fellowship and work of charity.
