The new Anambra State Commissioner For Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye has declared war against all forms of criminalities in Anambra State and the entire South-eastern Nigeria.
In a statement released yesterday during a press briefing at the Commands’ headquarters in Amawbia, CP Adeoye recounted his achievements within a week of assuming office and assured that under his watch, crimes and other forms of criminality will be reduced to the barest minimum with the efforts of his men and other sister security agencies in the state and other neighboring states in the region.
Highlighting some crimes and other nefarious activities of the criminal elements that are prevalent in the State, which includes, robbery, kidnapping, violently enforcement of sit-at-home, activities of unidentified gunmen, among others, the new CP assured that the entire region will be inhabitable for criminals and other activities that negates the peace and security of Ndi Anambra and beyond.
CP Adeoye also noted that the Command will not play a part in escalating security challenge in the region by advising criminals to relocate from the State, in order not to create problems for the neighboring state, but would collaborate with the security agencies of sister states to deal with criminal elements through intelligence sharing and other professional means.
He further commended Gov Soludo for creating social avenues, such as vocational trainings and the likes, to take the youths out of the streets and to discourage crime in the state, while also assuring of sustained partnership with the government in the fight against crime.
He stressed that the police has no delight in lose of lives and property of the people, but affirmed the command readiness to protect the people of Anambra. Furthermore, he also noted that they will stop at nothing to achieve the mandate of the Inspector-General of Police, which is to secure and protect the people of Anambra State.
CP Adeoye also, while fielding questions from newsmen on some alleged unprofessional conducts of some officers of the command, revealed that the DPO of the B Division, Awka, who was recently accused of illegal arrest and extortion of the residents had been transferred and replaced, while investigations are still ongoing on the allegations against him and his men in the Division, after which the appropriate punishment would be meted out to them if found wanting.
He further warned that the Command, under his watch, would not tolerate any form of malfeasance from officers in the State, as anyone found wanting would be seriously dealt with.
The Police Chief, to boost the Morales of his men and encourage them to do better, also affirmed that he had initiated awards known as the Commissioner of Police Commendation Award in Anambra State, among other exceptional reward packages for officers who have proved outstanding performance in the discharge of their duties.
